Department of Medicine at THQ Hospital Daska is committed to providing exceptional patient care through the exercise of sympathetic and researched founded medicine. We serve the hospital by working collaboratively with other medical professionals and by development a culture of safety with a focus on quality improvement. The objective of imparting medical services to the ailing humanity, including Islamic values, professional ethics and moral virtues are met here in integrated form to serve the community relentlessly. In recent years government has provided a massive amount of budget, created a lot of vacancies, and through revamping process this Hospital is in a position to fulfill ever growing demand for quality health care professionals delivering quality health care through quality infrastructure at almost zero cost and its services are reaching and helping the suffering and needy segments of the population. The Department is working 24 x 7 with Outdoor patient department, emergency treatment and free indoor patient department services.

Aims and Objectives

Enlisted below are the aims and objectives of department:

  • You will develop and refine the basic clinical skills required to provide effective and efficient inpatient care
  • History and physical examination; obtain a patient's history and physical exam in a logical, organized, and thorough manner
  • Accessing the medical literature and other information sources
  • Develop a logical and efficient management strategy, begin to understand risks, benefits, and compliance issues in choosing a treatment

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

SOPs of department are as under:

  • ​After getting registration slip from reception, the patient will be brought to the Medical Officer's (MO) room by the hospital staff on wheelchair, stretcher, etc. and will be, initially examined by MO
  • After medico-legal formality, if any, the patient will be referred to the concerned department. The referral time will not be more than 2 - 3 minutes
  • If a any patient having roadside accident is seriously injured and bleeding, he I she will be taken to Minor Operation Theater (MOT), and if needed, to Emergency Operation Theater (EOT) for further management
  • The patient having minor injuries, after observation and treatment, will be discharged
  • A pure Medical case, after proper assessment in Medical OPD Room refer to Medical ward for another few days for follow-up
  • The patients having background of trauma, but having predominantly fractures or predominantly head injury, after maintaining I.V line in Emergency surgical ward will be sent to their respective Emergency Wards for treatment
  • Patients requiring admission are admitted in the medical ward, otherwise the patient is discharged from medical ward after treatment and is advised for follow-up through OPD
  • On discharge from medical, surgical or from any other ward of THQ Hospital Daska, the patient will be provided a discharge summary, signed by the treating doctor which will contain patient name, date of admission and  discharge, reasons for admission, significant findings, diagnosis, and patient’s condition on discharge, investigations results, treatment provided and follow-up advice
  • If the patient is leaving the hospital against medical advice (LAMA) the declaration of the patient / attendant will be recorded and signed
  • In case of transfer of patient to other healthcare facility, details regarding medical history of the patient, investigations, procedures performed, treatment provided, reasons for referral and the name of healthcare establishment to be referred will be recorded in the referral form
  • All record of the patient including medico legal will be properly maintained

Future Plans

Future plans of department are as under:

  • Test interpretation: interpret blood smear, gram stain, electrocardiogram, chest X-ray, and urinalysis
  • Taking initiative, being curious, seeking feedback from your team members, demonstrating honesty and integrity in all professional activities
